For the True Crime YouTuber "Insolito", I created animations that visualize the murder of the american rapper Tupac in 1996. In this project, the focus was on the key moments of the crime. In the design, I chose a simple, shadowy style that allows the viewer to get a clear impression of the scene, while at the same time making important elements stand out.
The environment was deliberately modelled in a schematic way and kept in simple shades of grey, while relevant people and objects such as cars were depicted in vivid colors to emphasize their importance. The use of soft lighting, including from the lanterns, creates a pleasant atmosphere that immerses the viewer in the scenario without distracting the focus from the action. This deliberate stylistic choice allows the story to be presented in a gripping and visually appealing way, while maintaining the authenticity and emotionality of the narrative. An additional easter egg is the significance of the colors, as they are not randomly chosen but allude to the gang affiliations of the Bloods (red) and Crips (blue).
It was a captivating challenge to realize this project and I am proud that my work helped to make the murder of Tupac comprehensible to the viewer through visualizations.
